Christmas, Manna, Lent, and Strawberries
Some recent writing on these subjects.
It's been a while since my last blog entry. Our family moved over 2000 miles from our home in New Brunswick, Canada to East Texas where I am now happily serving at Christ Church Episcopal. It's been a great journey and we are finally settling in.
Since December, I've had a couple of essays come out, along with a few reviews and a poem.
First, at Covenant, and in print in The Living Church, an essay on one of my favourite Canadian authors, William Kurelek. He has a beautiful children's book that I love to read every year. You can find the essay
Not long after this, I had a little reflection on Manna, having children, and the Church come out in Faith Today. It's called "The Meaning of Manna" and you can find it here.
Also in The Living Church, a review essay on three books about Lenten or centering on Lenten themes. It's only in print so far, so no link to share.
Last but not least is a poem in Ekstasis for the winter collection. You can read it here.
I have some other projects that will be out in coming weeks, some poetry and an longer essay that's been in the works for a while. I am looking forward to sharing them in due course.
In the meantime, I am still working away on my first book that is under contract with Brill. I working on an additional chapter right now. This process has taken far longer than I expected, but I hope to have it wrapped up in coming months.
